An Urgent Letter From Pride Portland Concerning COVID-19 and the Pride Parade & Festival

Our executive board has reviewed the possibilities of keeping the date of the Pride parade and festival for June. After careful consideration, we have decided it would not be feasible or responsible to keep Pride at its current date and have decided to tentatively move the event to the end of August. We will work with the city to secure a date and will communicate this once we do.

We are a completely volunteer run organization and all preparations for each event are done in our personal time. The health and safety of our volunteers and community are most important to us and have guided our decision.

For vendors and parade participants who have already registered, we would be happy to hold your position for August or you may contact us to request a refund.

We know that the last few weeks have been an unprecedented and trying time for us all. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while we put the parade and festival on hold for the time being. We still want to create smaller events for the community to come out and show their pride, so stay tuned to our FaceBook page for these events.

Pride Portland! is a labour of love. We are a local event that reaches throughout Maine and we owe our success to all of you and to our dedicated team leads. We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy. And we certainly hope to see you in August.

In solidarity,
