The 2017 parade theme is "Love is Love." Parade participants are encouraged to express what love means to them by representing "Love is _________ (fill in the blank)" in their floats, costumes, etc.
The annual Pride Portland! Parade is a celebration of LGBTQIA unity and perseverance.
As Northern New England’s largest, there are people attending from not just Maine, but around the country.
While growing every year, the parade maintains a unique feeling of comfortable familiarity and community support. It is a reminder of the past, and all that have sacrificed and fought for equality and justice, as well as a celebration of unity, strength, and hope for the future.

Admission is free, of course! But, please join in the fun and line up at Monument Square by 11:30am to help us carry the Pride Portland! Rainbow Flag!

2017 Parade Rules
Pride Portland! is a celebration of Portland’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied community. Our goal is to bring people together to celebrate the achievements of the LGBTQA movement, remember our history and raise awareness of the work that still needs to be done. Fostering and honoring inclusivity, diversity and unity, Pride Portland! builds stronger connections amongst individuals, organizations and businesses.
When organizing your Parade group, please consider the diversity of the community and audience at the event. People participate in Pride for many reasons: to celebrate, to make a political statement, to have fun, to showcase their business or group, to include family members, and to show support. Pride Portland! respects everyone’s right to express themselves as they choose.
Pride Portland! is the City of Portland permit holder for this event. In order to ensure compliance with our permit and to ensure the safety of our participants and spectators, we have established a short list of rules
- All groups/individuals must be registered in order to participate.
Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, at all times.
All vehicles and trailers are required to be registered and insured. Drivers are required to possess a valid driver’s license
No consumption of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances.
Items thrown or offered to parade observers need to be appropriate and consideration needs to be taken to not harm any onlookers or other participants.
Follow all instructions from the Parade staff.
Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in removal of your group from the parade. All decisions made by Pride Portland! are final. All fees paid are non-refundable.
All registrations must be received by June 6, to avoid a late entry charge. Registrations received after June 6, but before June 14, will be assessed a late entry charge of $25.00 per registration. No registrations will be accepted after June 14. Also, registrations received after June 6, will not be eligible for the combined Parade/Festival discount. Registrations are not allowed on the day of the event.
